This year’s Chef of the year final, as previous years was of an extremely high standard with the four finalists battling it out to become Palmer and Howells Chef of the Year 2017.

Each contestant cooked up two courses to include a main and dessert suitable for a year 9 pupil in 1 1/2 hours. It was a close run final with Claire Hill eventually being crowned the winner after cooking up a main course of Mexican chicken three ways with a fragrant lime and coriander rice and mango salsa followed by churros with chocolate fondue and strawberry compote. All of the judges commented on the flavour and presentation of the winning menu and felt that it hit the competition brief.
