The annual P&H Chef of the Year competition took place in July at the Knorr development kitchens in Leatherhead, Surrey. Unilever have recently refurbished the kitchens and there was great excitement amongst the competitors as they gathered for the final at the new facilities!
This year’s finalists were: Chris Bennett, from The Blue Coat, School, Birmingham; Paula Woodhead from The Redstart Primary School in Chard; Nick Udell – Dean Close Senior School in Cheltenham and Sarah Hill – Cokethorpe School, Witney.
The final proved to be very competitive with some fantastic dishes being produced. As always, the competition scores were very close and the standard of cooking and presentation was high.
The winner of COTY 2016 was Paula Woodhead from The Redstart Primary School who produced a Red Thai Chicken Curry followed by a Mango and Cardamom Upside Down Cake with a Coconut Sauce.
Paul Wright, Development Chef at Unilever said this was, “… the best competition to date”.
Well done to all the finalists. P&H would like to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to Philip Dennis Foodservice and Unilever food Solutions for sponsoring and hosting the COTY 2016.
